The UBC campus is always growing and changing so it is common to encounter construction and road closures. The map below will help you locate existing construction areas and road closures at UBC Okanagan. It is updated with each new project to make navigating campus easier.

Access to Parking Lot J – April 2024
Between Monday, April 1 – Sunday, April 21 the access road to Parking Lot J will be reduced to single lane alternating traffic. The road will be intermittently closed to traffic in both directions for short durations of up to 10 mins. at a time. Please follow the directions of the traffic control personnel and plan for delays
Child Care Facility – October 2023 – Fall 2024
As a result of construction of the new Child Care Facility south of the existing Daycare Building on Discovery Avenue, there will be disruptions to site access until Fall 2024 as detailed below, and as shown in the Construction Map above.
This work will result in the following disruptions:
- Reduced on site parking within the Child Care Facility site. Additional stalls along Discovery Avenue have been identified to provide additional parking for pick-up/ drop-off during construction.
- Single-lane alternating vehicle access to parking Lot W, south of the Child Care Facility site. Access to the accessible stalls within Lot W have been maintained.
x̌əl sic snpax̌nwixʷtn – Dec. 2022 – 2025
As a result of the construction of x̌əl sic snpax̌nwixʷtn south of the EME Building on Alumni Avenue, there will be disruptions to the surrounding campus area until late 2025 as detailed below.
- Alumni Avenue will be CLOSED to through traffic between the Parking Lot J Access and University Way. Full lane closure will be in place until April 30, 2024.
- Pick-up / drop-off activity cannot occur on Alumni Avenue or University Way when Alumni Avenue is closed. All pick-up / drop-off activity in this area is directed to a new temporary pick-up / drop-off area located in Parking Lot E (south side). Please follow directional signage as posted.
- Bus stops will be moved in the Transit Exchange until April 30, 2024. Please refer to Transit Updates page for more information on where to catch your bus during this time.
- Pedestrians using Alumni Avenue to travel to and from parking Lots J and B are to use the detour routes as marked (also shown within the Construction Map).
- Access to Parking Lots B and J will remain open on Alumni Avenue. The east site of Parking Lot J will remain closed throughout construction.
- The EME building will have disrupted service access until 2025. Temporary service will be created around the building to ensure building operations can continue.
